The York Ebor festival kicks off tomorrow and the feature race on the first day is the Group 1 Juddmonte International. The card and odds are now available on tomorrow's racecards. So let's dive in.
Topping the market are Ombudsman (7/4) and Delacroix (15/8), who raced against each other in the Coral Eclipse last month. Delacroix came out victorious in that race after making a flying run in the final furlong and was awarded a handsome 865 on our THM Score. He shares the joint highest score last time out with Japanese horse Danon Decile (5/1) who looked extremely impressive when beating Calandagan last time out at Meydan. However, Ombudsman’s score of 898 which he posted at Royal Ascot remains the standout.
See The Fire (6/1) will have quite a bit to find based on her last run. She only achieved a score of 805 and was well beaten by Whirl and Cercene. Daryz (9/1) will too, although he is currently unbeaten and is 4 from 4.
See The Fire comes out on top for course form and is 2 from 2 at the York track. None of the others have run there before. From a distance perspective, Danon Decile is the only horse not to have run over the 1m2f trip - he has been running over further in Japan and Meydan so will be down in trip tomorrow. All others have a win over the distance to their name with the standouts being Delacroix, who is 3 from 3 and Daryz who is 4 from 4.
Danon Decile, Daryz and Birr Castle (80/1) are untested on Good To Firm ground in the UK but it shouldn’t cause issues for any of the others. Birr Castle has been supplemented for the race and is the current rank outsider, and he looks set to take the role of the Godolphin pacemaker tomorrow.
