Day Two of the 2025 Aintree Festival is headlined by Jonbon (8/15) who takes on a depleted field in the Melling Chase (15:30). It's a redemption mission for Jonbon after his disappointing showing at Cheltenham when a beaten favourite in the Champion Chase. After a farcical start he was always on the back-foot until a shuddering error on the final circuit ended all hope of him tasting Cheltenham Festival glory for the first time. The curtain raiser of the 2025 Aintree Festival is the EBC Group Novices' Chase (13:45),and Jango Baie (5/2) for the Nicky Henderson and Nico de Boinville combination is the current market leader. Jango Baie claimed victory with a last-gasp victory at the Cheltenham Festival in the Grade 1 Arkle Chase run over 2 miles. After a largely disastrous Cheltenham Festival for punters, with a handful of so-called "bankers" falling foul of the Cheltenham obstacles, I think it's safe to say that some decent flat racing will be welcomed by many. Whilst still having one eye on conclusions to the jumps season at Aintree and Punchestown, tomorrow brings us the grand opening of the British flat season at Doncaster.
